Lotus Foods, known for its heirloom and organic rice varieties, partnered with us to bring clarity and cohesion to its brand story at retail. With a mission rooted in sustainability, food justice, and global connection, the brand needed a way to communicate its values while standing out in an increasingly crowded marketplace.
The Challenge
As Lotus Foods grew beyond its core rice products, each new category—from snacks to noodles—needed to feel like a natural extension of the brand. The goal: retain authenticity, build shelf presence, and drive growth without losing the heart of the story.
Our Approach
We began by crafting a clear strategy around the idea that “Rice is Life”—a message that underscores the vital link between smallholder farmers and consumers. This ethos became the foundation for all brand storytelling and visual identity.
Packaging design played a central role. We created a distinctive system that honored the beauty of the rice itself and gave real farmers a prominent place on pack, fostering both transparency and trust. As Lotus Foods entered new categories, we evolved this system with flexibility—allowing for playful moments while preserving consistency and brand integrity.
Impact
Arare Rice Crackers, launched exclusively at Whole Foods, exceeded initial sales forecasts and received strong buyer feedback.
Pad Thai Noodles and Rice Delights successfully entered their markets, expanding consumer touchpoints.
With the introduction of Rice Ramen Noodle Soup Cups, we helped Lotus Foods redefine the instant noodle aisle. By combining a healthier, sustainably sourced product with bold, standout packaging, the brand gained traction in a competitive space.
