Lotus Foods—renowned for its heirloom and organic rice varieties—partnered with us to clarify and unify its retail brand narrative. Rooted in sustainability, food justice, and global connection, the brand needed to effectively communicate its values and stand out in a crowded marketplace.
The Challenge
As Lotus Foods expanded into new categories—snacks, noodles, and beyond—each product had to feel like an authentic extension of the brand. Our mission: ensure brand integrity, strengthen shelf presence, and fuel growth without compromising the brand’s soul.
Our Approach
We grounded our strategy in the core message: “Rice is Life.” This conveyed the meaningful connection between smallholder farmers and consumers and became the foundation for storytelling and visual identity.
Packaging design became a key expression of this ethos. We crafted a system that celebrated the elegant beauty of rice and featured real farmers prominently on the packaging, reinforcing transparency and trust. As Lotus Foods entered new categories, we introduced flexibility into the system—welcoming playful design elements while preserving cohesive brand integrity.
Impact
Arare Rice Crackers, launched exclusively at Whole Foods, surpassed initial sales projections and garnered exceptional buyer feedback.
Pad Thai Noodles and Rice Delights successfully penetrated their new markets, broadening consumer engagement.
With the debut of Rice Ramen Noodle Soup Cups, we helped Lotus Foods reimagine the instant noodle aisle—combining healthier, sustainably sourced ingredients with standout packaging to capture consumer attention in a competitive category.
